An original member of the Winnipeg artist collective, The Royal Art Lodge (with Marcel Dzama and Michael Dumontier), Neil Farber has a uniquely creative body of work. Despite the naïve and childlike appearance of his art, Neil's working area often carries a sinister layer, exuding deep emotions and a rather dark humor. He often works with wax to represent the heads of his characters, on wood or on large sheets of assembled paper.
Neil Farber constantly pushes the boundaries between the real and the imaginary to produce works that are fascinating in their complexity and intellectual achievement.
Neil Farber has exhibited at the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Art in Toronto, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denmark, Sies + Höke in Düsseldorf, Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, MoCA in Los Angeles, the Drawing Center in New York, and the Seoul Museum.
Neil Farber was featured in "My Winnipeg" at La Maison Rouge in 2011, at MIAM in Sète in 2012, and at Plug-In ICA in Winnipeg. His work is part of the collections of MoMA, New York, the West Collection in Pennsylvania, and Olbricht in Germany.
